Fluoride Treatments
What Are Fluoride Treatments?
Fluoride is essential in preventing cavities and preserving your natural teeth. These treatments are ideal for both adults and children alike. Fluoride treatments are often needed when you don’t get enough fluoride through the water you drink and the dental products that you use. It can be applied at each of your bi-annual appointments.

Why Are Fluoride Treatments Needed?
You may need fluoride treatments if you don’t get enough of it through your drinking water or dental products. Fluoride is ideal for patients who are vulnerable to tooth decay or who already have a lot of fillings. Our goal is to offer you preventative care options that are great for preserving your natural teeth. Fluoride can prevent decay from developing and protect teeth from fillings, root canals and even extractions.

Who’s a Good Candidate for Fluoride Treatments?
Most patients are good candidates for fluoride treatments. We can apply the fluoride at each of your checkup appointments or on an as-needed basis. Children can especially benefit from fluoride treatments because of how sensitive and vulnerable their teeth happen to be. We can perform an exam to determine if you would benefit from fluoride treatments.
What Happens During Fluoride Treatments?
We start by sitting you comfortably in our office. We then apply the liquid fluoride to your teeth and allow it to soak in and dry. You will be told to avoid eating and drinking for a short period of time after the treatments have been applied. We can provide you with fluoride treatments at each of your bi-annual appointments or as needed. We recommend that the majority of our pediatric patients have fluoride treatments when coming into our office as a way to protect their teeth. These treatments can be helpful in preventing decay and protecting your teeth from needing fillings, root canals and even extractions in the future.
